Asus; A Company Beyond Its Years in Experience
Although a young tech company in comparison to their competitors, Asus has come with a varied but experienced background to dominate the notebook and motherboard industry. Asus laptops have bragging rights to say that their notebooks have been (and worked) on the highest peak in the world and they have even been launched and used in space without any glitches, showing reliability and efficiency in even the harshest conditions. Once this was accomplished they chose to set their usual high standards on a new tech industry, smartphones. It is this standard of quality which has lead to such success once again. The Taiwanese company first entered the field with the help of tech partner Garmin. After Garmin decided to exit the smartphone industry, Asus was left to their own devices. In the last few years they have made a name for themselves, producing products which rival competitors with many more years in the field. However, in January, the company announced a range of smartphones which would make waves and vie with some of the top selling brands. They would be know as the Zenfone Series.
Making Waves with the Zen Series
Announced at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, the Zenfone Series would be 3 all new phones, all closely related differing slightly from price to price. The series is comprised of the Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6, which are named after the size of their screens being 4 inches, 5 inches and 6 inches respectively. These three smartphones represent all ranges of the market covering low-end, midrange and high-end. Physically these phones vary in size but all have the same sleek, minimal design with rounded edges and back similar to OPPO smartphones. The Zenfone 4 is low-cost but lots of fun coming in a wide range of bright colours. For the lower price as you would expect the spec are a bit less than those of its bigger brothers but still very impressive for the price. The phone is powered by an Intel Atom 1.2ghz CPU and a 1600 mAh battery giving you enough juice to last a full day with high usage. The rear camera is 5MP, however, like the entire series, it comes with the new Asus photo software, PixelMaster. This custom software enables the user to access a wide range of high end camera options including auto focus, image stabilization, depth of focus and face recognition.
The Zenfone 5 and 6, while on the higher end of the price scale, understandably come with much more impressive specs. The 5 inch model comes with the best of both worlds, with a 8MP rear shooter and an Intel Atom Multi Core 1.6ghz processor. Being the mid range device it has slightly lower specs with lower resolution camera however has the same resolution screen as the 6 inch model. Although the 6 inch model is the high end device some may find the 6 inch screen a little hard to handle or awkward to use but if you are using it for gaming and streaming videos this is the perfect device. All you favourite games and movies will stream fast and in amazing quality supported by the 2.0ghz Intel processor and LTE connectivity. All three android phones will be equipped with the usual crowd pleasers like expandable memory, dual sim capability, Android Jellybean 4.3 (will update to Kit Kat 4.4) and the new Zen user interface. This new UI has seen 1000s of modifications both in appearance and functionality to make your experience smoother and more enjoyable.
Transform Your Smartphone Use with the Padfone
The Zen Series however, are not the only Asus products to make waves in the smartphone pond, knocking competitors like Acer out of the water. In 2010 the tech company announced a transformer product which would change the way we use our phones; the Padfone. This device combines two products into one. The Padfone functions as a normal smartphone but has a tablet docking station, so you can easily view all the photos, articles and games on your phone on larger HD 1080p screen. The design took Asus engineers over three years to develop and the results are astonishing and also successful. The company have released a Padfone Series with the latest being the Padfone S and the Padfone mini. Now there is no need for lengthy file transfers or dual data networks or even two separate devices. In one easy connection you turn your 5 inch display into a 7 or 9 inch display (mini and S model).
