Product Overview
LG’s best OLED television to date
On paper, the LG CX OLED seems quite similar to last year’s LG C9, however, on closer inspection you will find that the South Korean manufacturer has gone to great lengths to iron out any quirks the previous model had, basically achieving perfection in the process.
For instance, updates have been made to LG’s Alpha a9 Gen 3 Processor which have improved the way faces are displayed by the chip's processing, while also raising the bar when it comes to upscaling.
When it comes to gaming performance, LG’s CX OLED is next-gen ready, with 4K/120fps support, VRR (variable refresh rate) and sub-1ms input lag, making it an ideal choice for those who’ve purchased (or are planning to purchase) a PS5 or Xbox Series X console.
As expected, LG’s CX OLED runs on the company’s celebrated WebOS platform, which offers a no-nonsense interface that’s easy to pick up and master while also remaining quick and responsive. Its home screen sports a row of icons that pops up at the bottom of the display, instantly connecting you to the telly’s content sources and apps.
If you’re looking for a centrepiece for your smart home, LG’s got you covered – the CX OLED is fully integrated with LG’s ThinQ AI platform, meaning you can use the TV’s built-in voice recognition to control any Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant devices in your home.
In terms of picture quality, the LG CX OLED is a knockout. Boasting Dolby Vision HDR, the TV’s colours are rich and vibrant without going overboard. Being an OLED TV, you can expect contrast to be incredible, with the technology allowing for individually lit pixels – something LCD TVs will never be able to achieve. Along with near-flawless motion processing performance, it’s hard to fault the LG CX OLED from a visual standpoint.
Score: 5 out of 5
Verdict: If you’re in no rush for 8K but still want the best 4K OLED television that money can buy right now, boasting excellent picture quality and smarts, look no further than LG’s remarkable CX OLED.
